It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live.
– Dumbledore
I’m actually getting nauseous from seeing all these pseudo vintage-looking camera phone pictures. like how one might feel about a song that keeps playing on the radio, on all of the stations and won’t stop.
I’m counting down the days, hours, minutes until I can go work with kids. I don’t know exactly when that is, but it’s my goal in life right now. Everyone tells me geriatrics is where the $$$ is at, but I can’t, I can’t, I don’t want to. The only time I have peace of mind with the idea that I’ll have to work for the rest of my life is the hope that...
update:
My boss asked me if I can take a leave of absence instead of resigning so if I were to come back, and there was still a position open, it’d be a smooth transition back in - rather than having to rehire me if I were to come back - so I took a leave of absence instead. Maybe fear got the best of me, but we have fear to help us survive. And.. I don’t want to be one of those people who...
one of the questions about this idealized “universal healthcare” is how will we deal with the baby boomer generation, which has already started to retire and are also beginning their journey of chronic diseases. how do we pay for every single medication, treatment plan, surgery, hospitalization costs, etc for all 23 million of them?
it’s my generation that has to figure that...

advice to self:
one important factor to happiness? you gotta like yourself, because you spend 100% of your time and life with yourself. there’s nothing you can do to get rid of yourself. so, whatever it is you’re doing, do things that will make you proud of yourself, that will help you to like yourself. be someone you would want to be friends with. be someone you would want to love. whether it’s...
Legit.
I love when people who choose not to work talk about how other people should be grateful to have a job. Um… there’s a reason why you CHOOSE not to work and lucky you, you don’t have to. Think about that before you go around lecturing people about how they should feel on something you choose to blissfully avoid because you can. They can’t. They have to pay for their own...
Life was immeasurably better once I forced myself to stop taking it seriously.

If there’s anything I really really want, I just want to be emptied of worry and stress and weight, and filled with joy and I realized the reason why the people who are can be is because they let everything go. I need to let it all go. If people fuck their lives over, so be it. If I don’t get everything I want, whatever, at least I can learn to enjoy everything I have and get. I think...
“I’m over the human superiority complex”. Yea, basically.
Black bird, fly.
So with two 7-8 day trips coming up within the next 3 months, and 6 classes, 4 days a week, and hopefully a volunteer program/internship, and summer trip and maybe carpal tunnel surgery - I had to resign to have time for it all. I’m nervous. I wanted to take a leave of absence, but there’s just too much.
So, here’s to slashing through my safety net, and slashing off...
Progress.
I’m so ready for the next stage of my life. Starting my career. Learning hands-on about my industry, the health care industry. Having more time and credibility to explore… the world, this industry, my hobbies.
I know one of the most important things I need to work on is being positive, so I’ll start here.
new year:
1. GRADUATE.
2. Discover what I love to do.
3. Learn to cook.
4. Be organized and clean.
5. Be optimistic and positive.

What I've Learned
1. Be organized: losing things sucks. And it can cost a lot of money replacing them or fixing the mistake of not having it.
2. You have to be there for yourself and not assume people are watching after you. Chances are, they’re not.
3. You can do whatever you set your mind to. One of the most difficult parts is deciding what exactly you want, but once you decide, the rest is discipline,...
I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making...

They say, to be happy, focus on what you have.
My drive comes from somewhere, and one of those places is lack. Lack of as good of a GPA as I would like? Study harder. Lack of money? Work more hours. Lack of feeling of achievement? Get straight A’s, do volunteer work, be there for everyone at any time. But with every gain comes a sacrifice, and it has definitely been an internal...

They say happiness is a choice. I’m trying really hard to choose it, but at this point, trying isn’t good enough. I think I’m attracted to the stress, maybe even addicted to it. A part of me wants to be happy, and a part of me… probably doesn’t. Because if I wanted to be happy, why is it so hard to quit a job that I’ve hated since the first day? If I wanted to...
Things I barely have time for:
1. Reading.
2. Watching movies.
3. TV surfing.
4. Looking for new music.
5. Shopping just to shop.
These used to be some of my favorite things. Sometimes I feel like the whole rest of the world - my job, school, family, and friends - have more control over my time than I do.
Maybe it’s shallow, but yes, I do look at how people present themselves to the world. Their appearance. I wonder what they are trying to communicate, and there are two sides to every story:
Someone who dresses well, and is nicely put together may be someone who cares about their life, who wants to dress up for it, who wants to use it as an opportunity to express. They breathe in every...

Choose.
There are people that are blinded by the obstacles, and their sob stories, and excuses: oh, I’m not that smart. I don’t have money. I’m lazy. My family sucks. It stops them.
There are people driven by their ambitions. All they see are the possibilities. The realities that could be. The obstacles - what obstacles? Excuses are an unworthy trade. Sob stories? They’re just...
Extraordinary people
I really hope I have professors this upcoming semester who are similar to my professors from the last one. Amazing women who have accomplished so much. They wanted something so they went and got it. Period. In a world where so many people disbelieve in something right there in front of their eyes - their own potential - it’s so inspiring to know people who tapped into their potential.
...
Dad’s advice: don’t surround yourself with only ordinary people because then, you, too, will become ordinary. surround yourself with extraordinary people, people to use as examples of who you want to be. those are the people you can learn from, learn how to succeed like them.
Fortunately, I was raised by extraordinary people.
One of the biggest reasons why I’m grateful for my job: the money I was able to earn and save for this year’s Christmas shopping spree. It has been amazing and I am a happy Santa. :)
